Cats that don't look enough like Hitler
(in other irrelevant internet news)

Someone has a site called www.catsthatlooklikehitler.com and it wasn't even the only thing that made my day!

Also, we ourselves saw newborn kittens today, which was amazing (they were so small and newborn) and a topic that will surely be expounded upon at great length by both Bram and Hitler. Hiro. Whatever.

Also, there was a wonderful thunderstorm which crept through our bedroom door and made a small river on the floor.

WORDS OF PRAISE:
How can you possibly endorse or support facist racism?  dont you know your history?  it's people like you who oppressed and killed my people.  do you think your that much better than us?  your trying to make hitler and natzism look cute - by asociating small, adorable cats with their hatred.  its NOT cute not NOT funny and i am offended.  I told my grandfather who spent time at the Warstein concentration camp and he almost cried.  i expect an apology!
- Moses Finklestein

yo dude your site is kinda gay, no offence butthe catrs dont look enough like hitler, i saw one where the cat is in anazi uniform, more of those cuz thats funny, the rest is kinda gay
 - Evan

I think u should die u stupid geek that is so mean to the cats its not funny its just plain mean I feel so sorry for the cats close this site down or die
 - Dominic from Philip Morant School in Essex

I myself think this site is a disgrace.:(  Hitler killed everything living thing there was and he would kill these cute cats if he was still here. Thank you.
- Rockell

UPDATE: Kitten pictures can be seen in Bram's journal: [info]bramio. Caution should be taken by those with minds that are easily blowuppable.

I am on a pension and have long ago ceased to be able to feel anything and that goes also for my private parts as well as my sense of humor. I hate my wife she is the person who destroyed my humor and I'm mad about it. I have no control over anything not least my wife, she has not let me have sex in decades, so what is left? My ego is miniscule. Many things that had little importance before have become important to me now, and I need someone to talk to to remember I exist. No one has talked to me in so long, and I can't remember the last time my penis worked. Thank you very much.

OMG new kittens. How many? Oh Bram hurry. *hyper*

You had thunderstorm too? We too. Shaki and I almost died but for different reasons.

And the Hitler cats... I knew about this website, but I had not seen the comments. The world is full of hilarious comments.

Oh, cats!

Yes, internet comment boards are idiot magnets of almost unbelievable force (this and neighbouring journals excluded, of course).

I shouldn't rob the proud father of his storytelling rights, but I meant to ask you something completely different - have you heard the song "Falling" by Current 93 on which Björk makes an appearance? You probably have, but if you haven't you should. I could send it to you.

Thank you, I have it... I have almost everything Björk in my 15-giga Björk folder (excluding the films).

I am glad you like it!

Potentially the most absurd thing in the comments is the notion that the site is "mean to the cats."

Current 93: to explore or not to explore? They have so much material, but I have never heard one jot! What would you recommend as a "starter kit"? I crave more music impractically and reflexively.

In return, I turn your gaze toward the glory that is the Aural Hypnox label (auralhypnox.com)
I think I may have mentioned this long ago, but there it is again. Some of the best work I've heard in many a year. As far as I can tell, they absolutely refuse to release anything but excellent material. Even their packaging is great. And 'tis grossly affordable! Leave it to the Nords.

First of all, I used to be obsessed with Current 93. I had nightly visions of the musicians revealing strange and important truths about swastikas and hypnagogic Christs to me, and I spent most of my students allowance on tracking down vinyl copies of otherwise perfectly available albums, just to see which messages had been scratched around the center of the discs. I am not so badly off anymore, but I have a feeling that I might get worse again quite soon.

So, anyhow, thanks for asking!

The best place to start listening to Current 93, ironically, just might be on a record by Nature and Organisation, named "Beauty Reaps the Blood of Solitude," on which the most central collaborators (of the early nineties) are all present, but with the main compositional duties shifted to guitarist Michael Cashmore. Inarguably, the foundation stone of Current 93 is the changing vision and the various obsessions of David Tibet and some of his most potent, harrowing poetry is on there, set to beautiful, almost neoclassical string and wind arrangements and noisy soundscapes. If you were to download one track, I would suggest Bloodstreamruns.

Because of the variety of their output over time, getting a compilation might not be a bad idea, although that of course would leave single tracks out of context (which is unfair to their earlier post-industrial albums). "Calling for Vanished Faces" is wonderful and comprehensive, whereas the live album "Cats Drunk on Copper" (one of my personal favourites) shows the extended family at their most ecstatic and shambolic heights.

With your interest (as I gather) in meditative and abstract compositions, you might do well to look into: Nature Unveiled, Dog's Blood Rising, Faust or Bright Yellow Moon.

My personal favourites, and probably the albums that most people would suggest as starting points, are "Thunder Perfect Mind", "Of Ruine or Some Blazing Starre" and "All the Pretty Little Horses." All of these are newly reissued in beautiful packaging and wonderfully remastered (I normally don't believe in remastering, but in the case of TPM, the improved sound makes me never want to go back to the original).

Recommending Current 93 is something I rarely do. First of all because the vocal mannerisms of David Tibet can be grating to most people. Secondly, because few of their records are "good records" in any conventional sense. However, as documentation of a striking and singular series of visions, it is just unsurpassed. As with most genious, the authors are not entirely in control of the process, but will often try to add their own 'great ideas' to the demonic influence, at the risk of spoiling the genuinely inspired content. Of anyone, though, I really believe that you might get a kick (spiritually, of course) out of the acquaintance.

Also, you might very much enjoy reading "England's Hidden Reverse" by David Keenan, which is an insightful and well-written biography of David Tibet (Current 93), John Balance (Coil) and Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound).

This all sounds very occultick! (Don't tell H., she will spoil the fun) Thank you for the exquisite help... I will have to try and wedge my way into this particular niche-passage sometime soon. I haven't really gotten into any of the English stuff that sprang up in the '80's. That's still a pretty unexplored realm. I've only heard a bit of Throbbing Gristle, a bit of Coil, and I have Nurse With Wound's "Soliloquy for Lilith" [though it doesn't seem nearly as amazing as people might make it out to be] and have heard a couple other thangs from them. Oh, and I have several Andrew Chalk albums, a couple by Mirror, and related artists. But somehow that whole realm has never exactly captured me. Though I have to say I adore much of Rapoon (I have avoided his lame-sounding works. One of his most interesting is his collaboration with Birds of Tin, entitled "Monomyth," and which Hiro possesses).
One quasi-similar British artist, on the other hand, that I am very much into is Lull. Has Hiro shown you "Murder Ballads," by chance? He is the one that provides the soundscape aspect for that opus, and the Lull project was a pioneer of the Isolationist ambient perspective (so I am to understand). Really interesting stuff from him, I think... cold, distant, and minimal, yet rich with attention and subtlety. The kind of stuff that makes you forget there's even any human consciousness behind it. I love that. That, to me, is fascinating.

Oh, and I listened to Tenhi's "Kauan" last night for the first time. I had just happened to buy it recently. I think you're right...good, but not THAT good. They could've improved the music greatly by just leaving out the drums almost entirely and finding a way of orchestrating it to compensate for the absence. The drums are just so... anti-mystical. Have you ever heard Ulver's "Kveldssanger"?

"kinda gay." thanks.

"he almost cried." That's because he's traumatized, not because of cats.

"Hitler would kill those cats." No he wouldn't. It would be a waste of bullets. Besides, if they look like him they would be spared anyhow. If anything he'd breed more.

I'd say all those people should funnel their hate into magic to annihilate the mindstate that compells fascism today, nevermind the past, instead of down the paltry portal of "Cats of Associative Color."

The priorities are quite odd. It's actually occuring to me that this is very much like kicking the cat instead of the boss. It isn't the cat's fault. Get a pistol and fire at the culprits of evil and hate, not worthless spite at a silly website. Dude.

I'm with you, dude! It is the blatant ignorance and black-and-white world views of people like Rockell that will usher in the next generation of fascism (maybe not with pistols and leather boots, but with fake tits and canned laughter).

It is not even funny at all.

Please come with your wife and join me in my private forest cabin once I build it. Hell, please come and lend your manly hands during the building times and we will live in tents and cook coffee on a campfire and throw rocks in it to settle the grounds.

I keep dreaming of building compounds...creating water catchments, building garden terraces, digging for septic systems, hell, installing composting toilets and solar panels, greywater systems, everything hand cranked!

This is going to be costly.
